Finding your way

Wow! It has been more than a month since I found (took) time to write. For something I want to do, I seem to find all kinds of reasons not to. What’s up with that?

Then someone posted a quote on Facebook that said ‘You will recognize your own path when you come upon it, because you will suddenly have all the energy and imagination you will ever need’ by Jerry Gillis and it got me thinking about the choices I have made over the course of my life. I have hesitated to pursue the things I want to do for fear of being called out as a fake, because developing practical skills and making money was emphasized in my family, and fear of being laughed at. Not that I am opposed to making money but as long as I can pay the bills shouldn’t ‘t I be doing something that energizes me, that inspires me and brings a calmness to my life that didn’t exist in all the other things I have done in my life? Shouldn’t I let go of the fear and insecurity I have let control my life and live free?

I just don’t believe life should be an endless list of chores or controlled by fear. That the work each of us does should be meaningful to each of us and bring a sense of well-being to our lives. That the fear can and should be let go until it no longer dictates the choices we make or not make and that the best choice is foraging ahead despite the fear.

So, no more hiding behind the chore list and filling my days with the perpetual activities of day to day life which ground me, miring me in the repetition of endless routine and holds me hostage to my personal fears.

Its time to soar!
