Once again Beth lifted her head from the dust. A groan escaped her lips as she placed
her palms on the dry, sandy surface in an attempt to lift herself enough to
crawl forward. It had seemed like
a good idea, going along with Harold on a trek across Death Valley.
One misstep in a backcountry canyon sent the two of them
tumbling down a rocky slope.
Harold did not survive the fall leaving Beth struggling with two broken
legs.
The glare of the sun blinded her. She thought she was done when she heard
the sound of helicopter overhead.
