A low rumble permeated the house.
“What’s that?”
She asked looking up from her book.
Her dog, which moments ago had been sprawled out on his
side sleeping, had his head up and his ears forward.
“Woof!” He
voiced his alarm and stood up. He
walked to the door and looked out the side window.
The rumbling faded away only to return moments later.
She set her book down on the coffee table and got up from
the couch. She peered out into the
dark and with a laugh she patted her guardian as her brother plowed her
snow-covered driveway.
