Overhead
the sky was clear blue. A few clouds
were scattered here and there breaking up the expanse. The surface of the lake was calm and
serene. Granite rock created islands
covered with pine trees and shrubs.
Surrounded
by wilderness the couple in the boat sat waiting for the slight tug, tug, tug
of a fish on the line. With a whisper
she announced the catching of her first fish.
The pole
tip up, the crank of the reel and a scoop of the net landed a fifteen-inch
Walleye in the boat. That night’s dinner
went into the live well.
