Catch Of The Day

Huddled inside oversized sweatshirts, caps pulled down low to shade young eyes, they focused on the bright yellow and orange bobbers floating nearby.  A soft breeze stirred the surface creating ripples.  Beneath them the boat rocked as it tugged against the anchor holding it in place.

In small hands poles bobbled and dipped as the two children wiggled in their seats, restless from inactivity.

“Where’s my bobber?”  One asked scanning the water.  “I have a fish, I have a fish!”

“Set the hook.  Keep the tip up.  Reel it in.”  He said as he smiled at his granddaughter’s first catch.
