On a bright, sunny, fall day, with the air crisp and clear, the last yellow leaves clinging to the branches let go and drifted to the ground.
All was quiet until the back door opened and a child dashed out into the yard followed by her mom. She picked up a rake and with focused effort wrestled the fallen leaves into a pile.
She moved away, dropped the rake and with a grin ran and jumped, sinking into the dry, crackling mound. There was a brief pause and then she leaped up, tossing leaves into the air with glee.
