Summer's Heat

Shadows danced across the window blind, creating patterns of light and dark.  Cool air flowed from the air vents bringing relief from the humid, sweltering heat of late summer.  Swarms of mosquitoes waited outside, hidden in the grass and bushes, they hovered ready to dive and sting the brave adventurer to leave the shelter of the house.  Inside, the residents were secure from the heat and the bugs. 

Restless from inactivity, the two young children clung to their mother’s legs begging for treats as she moved about the kitchen making lemonade to satisfy their demands.

“Enough!  Or outside you go!”
